Centre of Excellence for Cold Weather Operations (CWO) is planning a conference at Terningen Arena in Elverum, Norway from 3 to 5 November 2020.
The conference will focus on using best practices from CWO to improve NATO and partner nations' capabilities for conducting operations in cold weather. The official invitation letter with a detailed programme will be distributed later.
Focus area for the conference and programme are under development. The first day, 3 November, will start with information on how CWO is relevant for NATO, from basic activities and current operations ongoing today – to relevant Article 5 scenarios. Day 2 and day 3 (4–5 November) will be divided into three tracks covering the topics:
- How operational experiences are used to improve operational capabilities for CWO
- Maintaining and improving mobility in cold weather
- Overcoming logistic issues caused by cold weather
- Trauma care in CWO
- State of the art prevention and treatment of cold weather injuries
Suggestions for speakers and topics are welcome.
CWO COE plans the conference in faith that the current restrictions caused by the ongoing pandemic will be over by November.
