On Monday 15 June, the Norwegian Armed Forces launched an updated version of mil.no, the new address is www.forsvaret.no/en. The site has the same design as the Norwegian version, Forsvaret.no.
"The website is still under construction, and more pages will be added within the next weeks." says web editor Hege Dyrhaug Moe.
Mil.no is directed towards foreign press, and personnel coming to Norway for exercises and courses.
More than 10 per cent of our visitors come from abroad; most of these come from the USA, the UK and Sweden. The English site contains information about our tasks, our missions and our organisation.
"Visitors will also find information about training, exercises and a selection of news stories," says Moe.
The Norwegian Armed Forces have chosen to use a modern British English. This conforms to the standard used by institutions like the EU and the BBC.
The Norwegian Armed Forces launched a new version of the Norwegian website in January 2015. The website is developed by the Armed Forces Media Centre and the ICT Department in the Norwegian Defence Logistics Organisation. This work has been done in cooperation with the external companies Hyper, Bouvet and Evry.
