The four vehicles involved in yesterday's accident were from the 51st Composite Truck Company (U.S. Army). The accident occurred around 15:30 Tuesday 23 October.
The vehicles were on their way to Kongen Gruve, outside of Røros participating in exercise Trident Juncture.
The four military personnel who were taken to hospital have now been discharged. No one suffered serious damage.
The accident happened when three of the vehicles collided and the fourth drove off the road in an attempt to avoid hitting the other three. The fourth vehicle rolled over in the accident.
"We are grateful for the Norwegian emergency services, who were quickly on site and made sure to take care of our soldiers," says Major Adrian Rankine-Galloway, spokesman for US forces during the exercise.
"We will now investigate what happened and make sure we take precautions to minimize the risk of this happening again during the exercise."

According to Lieutenant Colonel Ivar Moen from the Norwegian Armed Forces, the participants in the exercise have been briefed on to how to drive on Norwegian roads during winter.
All vehicles are checked to ensure they have the appropriate tires or chains. Vehicles that do not meet Norwegian requirements will not be used where weather conditions are challenging.
