(b. 1979) MA (2001) and PhD (2013) in War Studies from King's College London. Bowers' dissertation was a multi-faceted study of the modernisation of the Republic of Korea Navy. His current research and teaching interests include East Asian security, naval strategy and procurement, South Korean security policy and alliances in Asia. He is currently working on a study of non-traditional naval operations and the future of South Korea–Japan security relations.
