Important meeting between Norwegian and US Special Operations Forces

On Friday 25 March, General Richard D. Clarke Jr., Commander of the US Special Operations Command, visited exercise Cold Response in Narvik, Norway.

The aim of the visit was to get a closer look at the cooperation between the Norwegian and US Special Operations Forces (SOF).

During his visit, General Clarke got an insight into how the two nation’s special forces train and work together in the High North.

During his visit, General Clarke met with the Norwegian Chief of Defence, the Commander of the Norwegian Special Operations Forces (FSK) and the Commander of the Norwegian Naval Special Operations Commando (MJK) – to mention a few.

Exercise Cold Response 2022 has created an opportunity to discuss the interoperability and cooperation between the United States and Norway.

“It is great to see General Clarke taking time out of his calendar to come and visit Norway during CR 22. It shows how valued our partnership is and how important exercises like Cold Response 22 are”, said General Eirik Kristoffersen, Norwegian Chief of Defence.

“Our partnership is long-term, and it is not something that lies in our past. It will be reinforced in the future”, General Kristoffersen added.

General Richard D. Clarke Jr. was satisfied with his visit to Norway and expressed his appreciation of the exercise.

“It is great to be in Norway and to see our forces working closely together in conditions such as these”, the General said.
