Halvard Bjerke

Bjerke is lecturing in military geomatics (MilGeo) and member of staff of the Section for Tactics and Combined Arms.

He obtained an MA in Technology (civil engineering) and Geomatics from the Norwegian University of Life Sciences and has worked at the Norwegian Military Academy since 2011. He has played a key role in the adoption and development of MilGeo as a field of education in the Norwegian Armed Forces. He has also taken part in in the development and use of digital and distributed learning at the academy.

Bjerke maintains ongoing academic collaboration with the Oslo Metropolitan University, supporting courses in geographical information system (GIS). In 2016, he co-authored the book "GIS - the geographic language of our age", which has been widely adopted by higher education institutions throughout Norway.

He is responsible for the courses Introduction to military geomatics and Military geographic information, while contributing to the other courses at the academy.
