Jonas Bjørnebye
(b. 1973), PhD from The University of Bergen 2007.
Jonas Bjørnebye has been Deputy Provost at the Norwegian Defence University College (NDUC) since October 2022.
Bjørnebye has extensive experience from both the defence sector and from higher education.
From 2020 to 2022, he served in the Norwegian Army General Staff Plans Branch (G-5) as a senior adviser in strategic communication, and as a senior staff officer in charge of information operations.
From 2013 to 2020, Bjørnebye served as an intelligence officer in the Norwegian Army Intelligence Battalion.
Before joining the Army, from 2009 to 2013, he held the Stein Erik Hagen Chair in cross-disciplinary studies at the Norwegian Institute in Rome.
He defended his PhD thesis, “Hic locus est felix, sanctus, piusque benignus” The cult of Mithras in fourth century Rome, at the University of Bergen in 2007.
