Camilla Guldahl Cooper
Camilla Guldahl Cooper is Associate Professor in operational law at the Norwegian Defence University College/Command and Staff College, where she has been employed since 2008.
She has a bachelor (LLB) in Law and Sociology from Cardiff University, masters (LLM) in Public International Law from the University of Nottingham, and doctorate (PhD) in Operational Law from the University of Oslo, including a period as a visiting scholar at the Stockton Center for International Law (US Naval War College).
In her PhD-project, which was completed in 2018, Cooper focused on NATO Rules of Engagement, the law of armed conflict and personal self-defence. She is a co-author of the Norwegian Manual of the Law of Armed Conflict (2013) and heads the update project of the manual.
Cooper is responsible for the topics the law of armed conflict and NATO for the Great Norwegian Encyclopedia, Norwegian representative in the NATO Law of Armed Conflict Task Group, and the Norwegian member of the Board of Directors of the International Society of Military Law and the Law of War. She has also served in Afghanistan (ISAF), been a Visiting Scholar at the US Naval War College in Newport, and she is a regular instructor at the NATO school in Oberammergau.
