Ole Jørgen Maaø is a historian and associate professor with the Royal Norwegian Air Force Academy in Trondheim, Norway. Maaø has a background as an officer with the Norwegian Air Force, serving almost 20 years in unform, before he in 2006 became a full-time civilian scholar.
He holds an M. Phil from the University of Glasgow and a PhD in history from Norwegian University of Science and Technology.
