Kosovar Malaj
Malaj is a university college lecturer at the Norwegian National Defence University/Norwegian Military Academy at the section for Engineering and Technology where he teaches and conducts research in military geomatics (MilGeo). Malaj's niche interests are surveying, GIS analyses, remote sensing and photogrammetry and Malaj finds everything within geomatics very exciting.
Malaj holds a master's degree from the University of Oslo (2019) in Geomorphology and Geomatics and a bachelor's degree in Geomatics from Gjøvik University College (2012). In his master's thesis, Malaj created automatic procedures to calculate glacier velocity using SAR images from Setinel-1 – example of southern Svalbard. In his bachelor's thesis, Malaj controlled laser data in demanding terrain with varied vegetation together with a fellow student and the Norwegian Public Roads Administration.
Malaj has been employed at the Norwegian Military Academy since 2024. Previously, Malaj worked as a product owner and senior GIS advisor at Norconsult Digital between 2022 and 2024 and land surveyor manager at AF Gruppen between 2012 and 2022.
