HMS ALBION AND EXERCISE COLD RESPONSE IN NORWAY Exercise Cold Response 2022 is the winter deployment in Norway directing Commando Forces to establish the cold weather skills, both individual and collective, to deliver success on Cold Response. The conclusion of this shaping activity, force elements will be located in the north of Norway, at multiple locations, and afloat. UK Commando Force (UKCF) will aggregate and rehabilitate all force elements ready to commence Cold Response. The scenario will be used as the geopolitical construct for the exercise, with UKCF conducting Advance Force Operations to enable NATO partner nations, at Littoral Strike Group scale.

Force capability demonstration on board Joint Expeditionary Force ship HMS Albion

BARDUFOSS: Media is hereby invited to attend British Armed Forces and Norwegian Armed Forces conduct a joint media venue on board HMS Albion on 7 March 2023.

The UK-led exercise Joint Warrior and the Norwegian-led exercise Joint Viking is currently underway in the High North, gathering more than 20,000 troops from around nine allied and partner nations on land, at sea and in the air.

The venue will include force capability demonstrations, interview opportunities with senior leadership and briefings on exercise Joint Warrior, exercise Joint Viking, and Joint Expeditionary Force. See programme below for further details.

The media venue will be a great opportunity to gather footage from the maritime part of the exercise, and interviews with senior leadership in an operational environment.

Live reporting will be possible, pending service at sea.

Limited number of places. International and national media outlets will be prioritised.

  • Attendance, departure and return: Norwegian Media and Information Centre, Rusta Befalsmesse 2, 9325 Bardufoss – Norway – Directions here. Parking is available.
  • Registration: The event is fully booked. If you wish to sign up for the waiting list, pleas fill out this registration form. No later than 3 March at 12:00 hours (CET).  
  • Bring: International Press Card and Personal ID with photo. Passport is preferred.

  • 11:00 Arrival HMS Albion.

    • Capability demonstration.
    • Interview opportunities.
  • 15:00 Departure by helicopter from HMS Albion.
  • 15:30 Arrival at Bardufoss. Onwards travel as required.
