27 March: Amphibious Landing from HNLMS Rotterdam

Media representatives are welcome to observe the Amphibious Landing from the HNLMS Rotterdam in the vicinity of Gottesjord, Norway.

Forces with II Marine Expeditionary Force, alongside their NATO counterparts, will be conducting an amphibious landing from the Dutch amphibious transport ship, the HNLMS Rotterdam, in the vicinity of Gottesjord, Sørreisa, Norway, coordinates: 69.161163, 18.11509. During this landing, NL 2nd Marine Combat Group will enter the tactical part of the exercise. Visually, that means our troops are in full gear doing tactical operations and coming on land with Landing Craft Units and Landing Craft Vehicles and personnel.

The landing will occur on Sunday 27 March 2022 at 06:00 AM local time. Media is kindly asked to be present at 05:30. Times are subject to change.

Please remember that Norway observes daylight savings time. DST starts at 02:00 AM on Sunday 27 March 2022 (this means that at 02:00 AM, the clock is set one hour forward to 03:00 AM). This means that DST starts three hours before this event.

About Cold Response 2022

  • Cold Response 2022 is a Norwegian military exercise with invited allies and partner nations. The field exercise started on 14 March and concluded on 31 March 2022.
  • There will be some minor allied training and activity in April, after the field exercise.
  • The first allied troops arrived in Norway last autumn and earlier this winter to train and prepare for the exercise.
  • Over 30,000 soldiers from 27 countries, as well as a number of civilian agencies have taken part in the exercise.
