Amerikansk F-35A lander på Ørland flystasjon

30 March: Visit F-35s and Air Defence Battalion at Ørland Air Station

Ørland Air Base operates the stealth multirole combat aircraft F-35. The air base is vital to the Norwegian Armed Forces' operational activities.

Norway's new F-35 is the backbone of the Norwegian Armed Forces. By 2025, Norway will receive 52 such fighter jets, and most will operate under 132 Air Wing at Ørland.

The first aircraft landed on Ørland in 2017, and the fighter base has undergone a large-scale modernisation and development in recent years. The air base has been equipped with a longer runway, a new squadron building, maintenance buildings and new facilities, hangars and supply buildings. In addition to the F-35, the Air Defence Battalion operates with the NASAMS III missile system.
